About Dr. Ginger Unegbu, DDS Houston Native, Howard University Trained
Dr. Ginger Unegbu is a Houston native with Nigerian heritage who has built her career around a commitment to accessible, excellence-driven dental care. Her educational journey reflects the same drive. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from the University of Houston, then went on to earn her Doctor of Dental Surgery at Howard University College of Dentistry in Washington, DC, graduating in 2019.
Howard University is one of the most prestigious historically Black universities in the United States. Its College of Dentistry is one of the few dental schools in the country with a historical mission of training Black dental professionals and addressing oral health disparities in underserved communities.
A Howard University trained dentist brings more than clinical skill. They bring a perspective shaped by an institution that has spent decades producing dentists committed to equitable access and community health.
Student of the Year award
Dr. Unegbu is a member of the Academy of General Dentistry and the International Dental Implant Association. She received the prestigious Student of the Year award from the Academy of Osseous Integration during her training, recognizing clinical excellence and commitment to patient care.Â
Outside the practice, she produces short films, participates in mission trips worldwide, and pursues an ongoing interest in natural herbal medicine and its intersection with health and wellness.
